I’m working on a full length documentary with the Mid-Island-Nanaimo chapter of the Council of Canadians. In late spring I started working on a documentary about TILMA (the Trade Investment Labour Mobility Agreement) and the SPP (the Security Prosperity Partnership). The documentary focuses on how these trade deals are being negotiated in secret under the guidance of the largest corporations in North America but without involvement from civil society, the labour and environmental movement, first nations or opposition parties. These agreements are being conducted without legislative or parliamentary oversight or debate and are being implemented through a regulatory process instead.

The SPP and TILMA threaten our democratic process in Canada, they are a race to the bottom in terms of harmonizing standards and deregulating corporate activity in this country, the USA and Mexico. A preview screening of Sombrio was held in Port Renfrew Saturday January 28th for the people in the documentary and thier friends and family. Sombrio officially premiered January 29 2006 at the Victoria Independent Film and Video Festival where it sold out was held over and sold out again.
