On the road… to find out Trailer

On the Road to Find Out explores issues related to the relocation of people with mental illness from smaller communities to larger centers in order to access mental health services. The film profiles three people: Martin, Gail, and Mark; each with a unique story and perspective. All three found their way to Nanaimo, British Columbia (Vancouver Island) to receive services offered by the Vancouver Island Health Authority and the Columbian Centre Society.

In addition to interviews with Martin, Gail, and Mark, On the Road to Find Out captures the perspectives of family members and supporters, mental health workers, and psychiatric professionals. Each subject’s story weighs the pros and cons of going home or establishing a new base.

Mental illnesses touch the lives of all Canadians, directly or indirectly. On the Road to Find Out provides compelling insight into the path taken by people hailing from smaller communities. We are grateful to Martin, Gail, and Mark for their courage in sharing their important stories.
